Well, I am back to work this week after having 2 weeks off. I was looking forward to coming back though, realizing over the break that I only have around 4 1/2 months left with my students! I only have 4 1/2 months left of teaching until I have a baby and get to stay home with him. So, that means I won't teach again for a good long while. I think I will miss the kids and teaching, but other things I will not miss. So, I have decided to do my best "to live with all my might, while I do live" (Jonathan Edwards Resolutions) and do my best to enjoy my students this year while I still get to.
On a somewhat different note, my students this week seemed to have forgotten alot of what they learned first semester. They did just have 2 weeks of probably not alot of brain strengthening activity, but still. I have had to be real patient this week, and reteach many concepts, but I suppose that's what we do, reteach, review, reteach, review, teach new things, reteach, review...and so on... 3rd graders need repetition, although their teacher doesn't always enjoy it and thinks we need to move on.
I know I have to learn things over and over....and I remember in college and even high school that I would study for a test, take the test, and then probably could not tell you the information the next week. Everyone needs repeated teaching and review I suppose.
My students are doing very well, though, and I am so proud of them. I have such a wonderful class this year and thank the Lord every day for blessing me with these sweet kids. I will def miss them next year. It's neat how you bond with 21 kids over time, and then bang the year is over and you may never know whatever happens to them. I pray each of them come to know Christ and live lives that will glorify Him.
