Jesus-dependent (Mark 9:14-29)

Jesus-dependent (Mark 9:14-29) from Tyler Hicks on Vimeo.

Questions for parents and students to discuss:
1. How does God get glory from our dependence/reliance on Him?
2. Are you giving God your problems, or are you trying to control everything in your own power?
3. Are you relying on past success in your walk with God, or are you pressing into God and His grace even now?
4. Are you praying? Are you praying as a family? Do you pray together with family? with friends? Do you really believe that prayer is important?

Trunk or Treat

We went to our churches Trunk or Treat last Sat. night with Griffin. Next year maybe he can actually get candy and Mommy can help him eat it! :)

Shots

we took Griffin to his 6 months checkup today. He got four shots, which included a flu shot. He screamed bloody murder the whole way through, and I almost lost it on the third one, but held it together. Tyler was able to go with us so that made everything better. We did have to wait in a waiting room full of sick kids for almost an hr., which I wasn't very happy about, but hopefully none of us will get sick, although Tyler had a cold before we went today and still isn't feeling well. Anyways, Griffin's 6 months stats are:
weight: 16.12 lbs.
height: 26 inches long

I thought he would have gained more weight than that since his last checkup, but the doctor said that its because he's more active now and is burning more calories.
The doctor had so many good things to say about Griffin. My favorite was that he said he had such a nice, clean bottom, no rashes. I was proud about that. I take good care of him! ha! And that he was perfectly healthy. Praise the Lord! We are so thankful.

P.S. Tyler and I want to get a flu shot but apparently there is no where in Clovis that has them! So if you live in Clovis and know a place where we can get one, please let me know.

6 months

Griffin is 6 months old today. It's crazy that it's already been half a year since he was born! To celebrate here are some random things we love about him:

1) We love his sweet smell. No matter what he always smells so good!
2) We love his smile and how it seems that his grin stretches all the way from one side of his face to the other.
3) His laugh is awesome! We don't get to hear it that much just yet, but when we do it's so funny!
4) He plays all the time now and really likes to do rolls (that's how he gets from one spot to the next)
5) We love his fat feet fat and hands.
6) We love his pudgy nose.
7) We love his blue eyes and how a bright, white ring goes around the middle of them.
8) We love how he looks when he first wakes up. It's so sweet.
9) We love how he'll put one finger in his mouth and just stare up at us.
10) We love to hear him talk and make noises.
bonus: he is tickelous ( couldn't find how to spell that) on his feet and thighs.

Happy 6 month birthday, Griffin!

Miserly Moms

My mom and dad recently got me this really neat book called Miserly Moms. It's all about how to live well on less in a tough economy. It talks about how staying at home with your children can work and how you can actually make money by staying home because it really costs money to work. Anyways, it's been so helpful to me. I would recommend it to all you stay at home mommas out there and even mom's that do work, because there are so many helpful hints on how to save money in general. And we all want to save money right? Check it out. You can get it on Amazon for $10.39.

Happy Halloween!

Took these sweet pics of Griffin today, on his first Halloween. If you can't tell, he is a baby giraffe. :)

Running.....almost non-existent...

Got to go for a run awhile ago while Tyler kept Griffin. It was so nice. 51 degrees outside so I got to wear my cool jumpsuit. It is a beautiful day here and I enjoyed being outside. Tyler got me some new running shoes for my birthday about a month ago and I have all but used them 4 times! I have ran only 4 times in a month! Make that 5 if I get to go tomorrow. We shall see. It's really my own fault I suppose. I was so excited about getting to run again after Griffin was born but really haven't made it a huge priority. Tyler always says that if you don't force yourself to do something (like going to lift weights for him) then you'll get stuck in a rut and you won't want to do it and then will end up not doing it for a awhile. That is me. I thought getting new shoes would motivate me, but I guess since the colder weather has settled in and I just like being inside when it's cold that I just don't go. Anyways, all that to say I am really going to try harder to push myself to go more. I'd like to go at least 3 times a week.
By the way, if you want some awesome running shoes I would recommend you getting Sauconys. They specialized in running and are so great! They won't make you more disciplined...but when you are your feet will love you for it! (ok I feel like that was sorta like a commercial or something)

I am determined to not let running (exercising) become non-existent in my life.
