Obama

Honestly, I have been anxious about this election. I haven't been exactly sure why though. I think I was worried because I knew there was a chance Obama could win. And in my mind I fear that he's going to let terrorists come over and bomb us all. I guess I have only heard all the negative about him and what will, or could, happen if he was to be president. And I just hate abortion so much and it breaks my heart to know he could allow so many more to take place than already have. I have always feared democrats being in control, just because of most of their views. My dad has always taught me alot about politics so have always been interested. In the past I can't remember thinking about an election this much and maybe it has to do with the fact that Tyler and I are starting our own family and we're about to have a child of our own and that we are on our own.
I turned to the Psalms last night as I watched some on tv.
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?" 27:1
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him." 28:7

I have prayed and prayed about this election, trusting that the God's will would be accomplished and I know it always will. What a relief to know that. His plan is best and He is in absolute control, not Obama. We can trust the Lord and not be afraid of what's to come. We should thank Him even when things don't go as we would have hoped for and the future is unknown. He holds the future and will strengthen us for whatever is ahead.
Tyler has told me over and over this. God is soverign and has everything in His hands no matter who becomes our president.

I completely understand how you are feeling. I too am struggling with uneasiness now that Obama has won the election. But as you said, I know that our Lord is sovereign and in control and we can take great comfort in that. He knew that this would take place and he already knows the outcome of this situation. Our pastor said this on Sunday and I have clung to it all week... (this is my paraphrase) "Even when all hope seems lost, and that evil has won, we can find rest in our Savior. We have already WON the battle! Judgement will come swiftly to those who disobey his word. We can be at peace because our King is coming again and is coming soon!"

Haley, I don't know you at all, but Tyler and I were friends in High school. It is interesting how different of opinion people have, as Christians, on voting. Obviously this is an old post of yours. But I just wanted to comment too. Personally, I voted for Obama out of a sense of Christian duty. Obviously we don't share the same convictions, but what I did hear in your post and in your husband's comments to you is the conviction that God is ultimately in charge. We are people of his Kingdom who happen to be Americans and not the other way around. How you understand that one statement makes all the difference in the world on how we live as Christians. May God bless you and Tyler richly.

Grace and Peace to you!
