We traveled about 3 hours northwest from Clovis to Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Saturday we decided to go to the zoo there because it's supposively one of the best. We pulled up into the parking lot to look across and see this vehicle with this sticker on it. We were dumbfounded and decided it was just because we were not used to being in such a liberal city. You don't see much of those supporters in Texas really.
We enjoyed our time at the zoo. We got see two polar bears! They were our favorite animals we got to see. Our second favorite, which Tyler REALLY liked, were the seals. We felt sorry for them kinda, because they are such awkward animals and have to drag themselves around. They are like half fish with fin-like feet and half mammal. They were funny. Haley really loved the flamingos. I learned that their knees are actually up in their feathers and where their knees look like they are, are actually their ankles. So they stand on their toes. We also liked the big rhino. I was looking at it when all of a sudden I turned and Tyler's arm was in mid-air and he had launched a hunk of ice at it. It hit the rhino and it didn't even budge. Tyler said it was probably because it was used to having stuff thrown at it. I thought it was a mean thing to do, poor rhino. I felt sorry for most the animals for being in captivity. They all seemed sad.
The picture with Tyler in it is with the largest rodent in the world. We laughed so hard at these big ole hamster looking things. They were so funny looking because they looked like giant hamsters! And they continued to use the restroom in the water and just stood there. It was quite humorous.
